Language: English
Delivery: Digital Download
Description
DVD Teaching advanced techniques of the Polynesian Lima Lama Art.
Shihan Tabura, born and raised in Hawaii, commenced his martial arts training in a backyard dojo under the guidance of his cousin.
Upon relocating to Southern California, Ted stumbled upon the Okinawa-te dojo, overseen by Shihan Gordon Doversola, another instructor hailing from Hawaii.
During his tenure at the Okinawa-te dojo, Tabura encountered John Louis (deceased), his final mentor at Okinawa-te and subsequently Lima Lama. Sensei Louis granted Tabura a black belt in 1968.
“The Sickle Man” was the moniker bestowed upon Shihan Tabura by Sijo Adriano Emperado, the founder of Kajukenbo, recognizing his mastery of Japanese kama (scythes). This epithet remained with Shihan Tabura for numerous years.
He achieved one of the highest ranks globally in Okinawa Te and Lima Lama.
His demise occurred on August 12, 2013, at his residence in Gardena, California.
