Regarding the performer, Ernesto Amador Presas, born on May 20, 1945, in the Philippines, initiated his Filipino martial arts training at the age of eight under his father, José Presas, a notable fighter of his time. With the titles of Lakan Sampu (10th Dan) in Arnis, Lakan Sampu (10th Dan) in Mano-Mano (Hand to Hand), and 8th Dan in Arms Philippines, he is acknowledged as an expert in Judo, Jujutsu, Bo Jitsu, Kendo, Tonfa, Sai, Chaku, Balisong, and Karate.
In the 1970s, he commenced teaching Filipino martial arts at universities. Invited to Japan for an Arnis demonstration at Expo 70, he earned respect by comparing Arnis to Japan’s well-known sword styles, even dubbed “Filipino Kendo” by Japanese masters. Upon returning to Manila, he established his first dojo with Master Frederico Lazo’s assistance. In the same year, Grandmaster Presas founded the modern Arnis of the Philippines International association and ARJUKEN (Arnis-Jujutsu-Kendo) Karate Association International.
In 1975, he established the International Martial Arts Federation of the Philippines, and from there, his Presas Arnis style and techniques gained widespread adoption in various countries. Grandmaster Presas, with over 30 years of research in Filipino martial arts, developed a systematic approach, creating a comprehensive hand-to-hand combat style known as Mano-Mano. Currently, he travels globally, conducting seminars to spread this Filipino art. In return, martial arts enthusiasts and instructors worldwide pay tribute by attending advanced lessons in the Philippines.
