David Weis, boasting 40 years of experience in the futures markets, functioned as a trader and market analyst. His career commenced as a broker and analyst at Conti Commodities. Subsequently, he enrolled in the Wyckoff Course provided by the Stock Market Institute, emerging as one of its foremost practitioners.
Ascending through the ranks, Weis eventually assumed the role of Director of Technical Research at Conti Commodities, where he authored the weekly technical market letter. Following this, he took charge of editing the Elliott Wave Commodity Letter, a publication by Robert Prechter. Four years later, he initiated his own Technical Forces letter. At present, he compiles a nightly Stock Market Update based on the interpretation of price/volume behavior.
In April 2013, Weis published his latest book, “Trades About To Happen, A Modern Adaptation of the Wyckoff Method” (Wiley & Sons). This well-received work is acknowledged as a significant contribution to the realm of technical analysis. Within its pages, the tape reading techniques of Richard Wyckoff from a century ago have been adjusted to align with the dynamics of today’s volatile markets. Weis is also recognized as the co-author of “Charting the Stock Market, The Wyckoff Method” and the sole author of a workbook titled “Trading with the Elliott Wave Principle, A Practical Guide.”
